The oldest section of the villa dates to the 18th century, and was originally built as a watchtower to warn the people of Positano of attacks by Saracen pirates in time to retreat to the safety of the Montepertuso hills.
The original foundation of the watchtower that once stood on this spot can still be seen from the pool level; in the 20th century two additional levels were added, making Villa Magia one of the largest on the Amalfi Coast. In 2015, the villa became a boutique hotel.
My parents, Giancarlo and Marilu Vespoli, both of whom come from hotelier families in Positano, bought this estate in 1992 and spent the next few years renovating it for our family home. We lived here for over 20 years: I was born here, held my own wedding here, and some of my most precious memories take place here.
In 2015, we decided to open up the beauty of our home to guests, first letting it as a private villa and later as a luxury boutique hotel. We are committed to making sure our guests have an unforgettable stay, with attentive service, luxe amenities, and staff to take care of any request, large or small.
My family and our staff hope that our guests are able to savor the same beauty and serenity at Villa Magia that we do each day.
Villa Magia is set on the peak of colorful houses that cascade down the cliffside in Positano. The taxi can leave you near our entrance, which is ideally located for setting off to explore the center of Positano or to take a day trip along the Amalfi Coast. If you are arriving by car, we have partnered with a nearby parking garage that offers valet service.
The Fornillo beach is just ten minutes away, easy to reach via a flight of stairs down through Positano.
You can also reach Spiaggia Grande beach via the stairs, where ferries to Capri and other destinations along the Amalfi Coast depart. If you don't want to walk back up the hillside to return to the villa, you can opt for a bus or taxi to reach the upper part of town.
A few minutes before you arrive, call us and we will meet you at Via Pasitea n.261:
This informal beach is set on a tiny bay that can be reached by following the signs for "Il Sentiero degli Innamorati" or the stairs that lead down from the villa, and has a number of small restaurants.
This beach in the center of Positano is the largest and most glamorous stretch of coast in town, lined with chic beach clubs and seaside restaurants and easy to reach on foot from the village center.
There are a variety of small beaches along the coast near Positano that are only accessible by sea; we can arrange a sail along the coastline to explore the most beautiful coves and bays.
Villa Magia is located in the center of Positano, walking distance from the beaches and winding lanes lined with boutiques. To explore further afield along the Amalfi Coast, we can arrange for a luxury sedan with or without a drive, or book cultural and gourmet tours with a guide.
Our family of four stayed in the suite with two bedrooms at this gorgeous villa run by the Vespoli family, and it was a wonderful experience. You begin to relax as soon as you enter the hotel, thanks to the warm welcome and friendly staff.
Villa Magia is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in, not only for the breathtaking views, but also for the quality of the rooms and service. The staff are all very welcoming from the moment you check in to the moment you check out.
